You are cordially invited to our next Monday Lecture &
Colloquium on May 13th at 14:15 h & 16:00 h at TU Berlin.
Location: Technische Universität Berlin Straße des 17. Juni 136 10623 Berlin Time: Monday, May 13th - 14:15 h Lecture: Boaz Slomka (Weizmann Institute of
Science, Rehovot Israel) Title: On Hadwiger's covering conjecture A
long-standing open problem, known as Hadwiger’s covering
problem, asks what is the smallest natural number N(n) such
that every convex body in {\mathbb R}^n can be covered by a
union of the interiors of at most N(n) of its translates.
In this talk, I will discuss some history of this problem and its close relatives, and present more recent results, including a new general upper bound for N(n). Coffee & Tea Break : Room MA 316 - Third Floor [British Reading] Time: Monday, May 13th - 16:00 h s.t. Colloquium: Fei Xue (Technische Universität Berlin) Title: On the lattice point covering problem in
dimension 2 We say that a convex body K has the lattice point covering property, if K contains a lattice point of Z^n in any position, i.e., in any translation and rotation of K. In this talk we discuss the lattice point covering property of some regular polygons in dimension 2. |
