You are cordially invited to our next Monday Lecture &
Colloquium on December 9th at 14:15 h & 16:00 h at TU
Berlin. Location: Technische Universität Berlin Straße des 17. Juni 136 10623 Berlin Time: Monday, December 9th - 14:15 h Lecture: Svante Linusson (Königlich Technische
Hochschule Stockholm) Title: Limit shape of shifted staircase SYT A shifted
tableau of staircase shape has row lengths n,n-1,...,2,1
adjusted on the right side and numbers increasing along rows and
columns. Let the number in a box represent the height of a point
above that box, then we have proved that the points for a
uniformly chosen random shifted staircase SYT in the limit
converge to a certain surface in three dimensions. I will
present this result and also how this implies, via properties of
the Edelman–Greene bijection, results about random 132-avoiding
sorting networks, including limit shapes for trajectories and
intermediate permutations. (Based on joint work with Samu Potka
and Robin Sulzgruber.)
Coffee & Tea Break : Room MA 316 - Third Floor [British Reading] Time: Monday, December 9th - 16:00 h s.t. Colloquium: Marcel Celaya (Georgia Institute of Technology) Title: The linear span of lattice points in a
half-open lattice parallelepiped The problem of deciding if there exists a lattice point inside a half-open parallelepiped on a given rational hyperplane is known to be NP-complete. In contrast, the question of deciding if all lattice points in a half-open parallelepiped lie on a given hyperplane has a much nicer answer. In this talk I will explain this answer in detail, and outline some applications. |
