Dear all,
We warmly invite you to a conversation with Maria Cecilia Flores-Oebanda,
freedom fighter and internationally renowned social entrepreneur, on the topic of
“Modern-Day Slavery: Fighting Human Trafficking in the Philippines and Beyond”
Human trafficking is a high profit, low risk criminal industry. With her organization Visayan Forum, Cecilia has rescued and transformed the lives of thousands of victims and systematically changed
the awareness and legal prosecution of human trafficking in the Philippines.
The evening offers insights into Cecilia’s mission and the personality of a real
Responsible Leader who, since her early fight against the Marcos regime, has dedicated her life towards creating a better society. We will also hear about her thoughts on how the experiences in the Global South can help us tackle modern slavery in our societies.
While forced labor, trafficking, and exploitation have always been a reality in Europe, the problem has been exacerbated by the recent influx of migrants and refugees.
More on Maria Cecilia Flores-Oebanda.
The event will be held in English and moderated by Barbara Müller, BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt.
Join us for a small reception following the conversation and use the opportunity to visit the
“Creating Space” exhibition
at our office. The curators and several of the artists will be present.
Please register until October 30, 2017 via web browser or send an email to
felix.bb.bender@bmw-foundation.org.
We look forward to seeing you!
Sincerely yours,
