GEAS offers a structured three-year doctoral programme that is embedded wit= hin a four-year PhD process, with a regional focus on East Asia (China, Jap= an, Korea). Doctoral dissertations at GEAS are expected to analyse modern o= r contemporary East Asia in the fields of politics, society, economy, cultu= re, law or history. The graduate school offers nine places for candidates with their own (insti= tutional) funding. Applicants who do not yet have funding are required to a= pply for funding at the same time as they apply for the doctoral program.
