PLOS Webinar: “Open 2.0--The curious case of open science. Case-studies in monitoring open science.”

What can real-world examples teach us about tracking the progress of open science? While we often discuss changing open science policies and behaviors in the abstract, real-world examples of open science monitoring provide a practical model for where to start and how to measure impact and unexpected effects. By examining specific contexts, from cross-sector partnerships to disciplinary shifts, we can gain a deeper understanding not only of where, when, and how open science is occurring, but also of how it is transforming research cultures and outcomes.

Join us for the webinar “Open 2.0--The curious case of open science. Case-studies in monitoring open science”, where three diverse examples take center stage. We will hear from the PathOS project about its investigation into how openness accelerates collaborations between academia and industry. We will discuss the Open Science Monitoring Initiative and its approaches to gathering global insights on the state of open science. We will share insights on data science methods and Open Infrastructures for planetary health in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. This session will showcase the case study approach as a powerful lens for understanding, refining, and advancing open science practices.
