OASPA2026: building a shared, open future


The OASPA2026 meeting will tackle today's most pressing challenges in open scholarly communication with a focus on interactivity and interchange. Selected lightning talks will spark connections and new ideas. Meanwhile, panels and keynotes will discuss and invite your questions on:

  • The importance of open knowledge in society;

  • The meaning(s) of sustainability in open access;

  • The value of interoperable open infrastructure;

  • The feasibility of algorithmic governance in the age of artificial intelligence; 

  • The re-centering of trust and reciprocity in open scholarly communications;

  • How OA agreements evolve into next generation collaborations based on shared values.   

The programme will also encourage sharing of views about reforming research(er) evaluation and the future of open research. And our interactive conference closing session will synthesise reflections from all three days and seek your inputs to feed into a post-conference working group for principles, practices and partnerships that build a more open, usable and reliable scholarly record.

We invite you to register and join us 21-23 September 2026 at the Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb to exchange thoughts with a global network of experts and peers - and help shape the future of open scholarship.

Following OASPA2026, the Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) will host an invitation-only, co-creation workshop for publishers and journals at the same venue on September 24. Although participation will be by invitation only, you can declare your interest to join when registering for the OASPA conference.
