Dear researchers, dear colleagues, As part of the BMFTR-funded project
open-access.network, we would like to invite you to join us for our next Open Access Talk (oa.talk): Title:
Freely accessible for everyone: Accessibility in Open Access publishing practice Date: October 20, 2026 Time: 10:00-11:00 (CEST) Place: Webex Meeting While Open Access promises free access to scholarly publications, “freely accessible” does not automatically mean “accessible to everyone”. For people who use assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers), the actual usability
of an article or other types of publication can be compromised by missing alternative text, unstructured PDFs, complex tables, and other accessibility barriers. Drawing on practical experience from operating
TIB Open Publishing, this oa.talk with Marco Gronewold will offer insights into how accessibility principles can be put into practice. Marco Gronewold works in editorial support and production at TIB Open Publishing. This oa.talk is aimed at scholars and researchers who are interested in making their own publications more accessible. It will also be of interest to those involved in scholarly publishing, publication infrastructures,
or publishing support. The talk will be held in English. No prior registration is required. Further information about the talk can be found on the announcement page:
https://open-access.network/fortbilden/open-access-talk/oatalk-on-oct-20-2026 We would appreciate it if you could forward this invitation. We look forward to your participation!
