[IP-OA_Forum] SeDOA’s “This Is How We Do It” #8 – Meet the Open Journals Collective

Dear Colleagues, Dear Open Access Enthusiasts,

It’s November - time for cookies, tea and SeDOA’s 8th edition of its “This Is How We Do It” online event series! We warmly invite anyone interested to join us on 16 November 2026 to learn more about the Open Journals Collective (OJC).

We are delighted to welcome Caroline Edwards (OJC Director) and Tom Shaw (OJC Staff Member, Library Engagement Lead), who will introduce the initiative, founded in 2025, and provide further insights into its approach to developing a sustainable, collectively funded publishing system for Diamond Open Access journals.

With ‘This is how we do it’, we invite international guests to share their insights, experiences and best practices in the field of Diamond Open Access. The event is open to anyone interested in shaping, supporting or further developing Diamond Open Access, and offers a space for exchange, questions and discussion.

“The Open Journals Collective: Building a Sustainable Future for Diamond Open Access”

Abstract:  This webinar will introduce the Open Journals Collective, a global movement that allows libraries to support diamond open access journals at scale via our library membership program. OJC works with a range of nonprofit publishers to provide sustainable funding and longevity for their journals. And we offer libraries an alternative to the world of commercial big deals and Transformative Agreements. This session will explore our motivations for founding OJC, our vision and operating model and our aspirations to partner with libraries and diamond publishers in Germany and across the world. Join us to hear more about building a sustainable future for journal publishing!
