Dear colleagues, dear Open Access enthusiasts,

SeDOA’s event series “This is how we do it” is back from its summer break!

On 15 September 2026, Paula Clemente Vega (Community Outreach Manager) and Simon Everett (Managing Editor) will present the work of the Open Library of Humanities (OLH).

In “This is how we do it”, international guests present best-practice examples of Diamond Open Access and provide insights into the work of their projects, initiatives, and institutions. The focus is also on challenges, lessons learned, and open questions. The event is aimed at anyone interested in the design, support, or further development of Diamond Open Access.

Abstract:
The Open Library of Humanities (OLH) offers a distinctive model for diamond open access publishing, funded by hundreds of member libraries through a collective funding model. This presentation explores its key features and challenges, with particular focus on funding sustainability, journal flips and quality assurance, including editorial oversight and the maintenance of rigorous academic standards.
