Dear Colleagues, dear Friends of the Kennedy Institute,

We hereby cordially invite you to join the Graduate School of North American Studies (Freie Universität Berlin) for its 10-year anniversary conference from October 20 – 21, 2017.

The conference, titled “The Fault Lines of Democracy: Conversations, Contestations and Cross-Cultural Comparisons” will take place at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Science in Berlin.

On multiple panels, the conference will discuss the questions:

                “What has changed in the last decade in North America, in the field of North American Studies and in the transatlantic relations? What are the emergent developments we should be aware of?”

Keynotes will be delivered by: Robert Warrior (President ASA/University of Kansas), Paul Gilroy (King’s College London) and Amy Kaplan (University of Pennsylvania). The conference will also feature a reading by Percival Everett (University of Southern California).
