Apologies if I should have found documentation which covers this, I did search but did not find any. I'm wanting to copy music from an RH1 to a PC running Win XP SP3. I can use Sonicstage but as I have very many minidiscs to do, I'm interested if I can find a faster way, without Sonicstages "helpful" "features". I can't work out how to make QHiMD see and connect to the RH1. When I click "connect" I get a window of drives etc, but none of them seems to be the RH1. This is the same window which My Computer shows. There are 4 "removable discs" shown but none of them seems to be the RH1. It all works fine with Sonicstage. Am I missing some simple thing? Or what is going on? Any suggestions gratefully received! When I = click "connect" I get a window of drives etc, but none of them seems to = be the RH1. This is the same window which My Computer shows. There are 4 = "removable discs" shown but none of them seems to be the RH1. It looks like you are trying to upload (copy yo PC) standard MiniDiscs = to your PC. While the MZ-RH1 acts like a USB mass storage device when inserting a HiMD, meaning that it's drive = letter will show up under "My Computer", it behaves differently when inserting a standard MiniDisc, i.e. a = MiniDisc that was recorded with a classic, non-HiMD recorder or on an HiMD recorder in "Standard Mode". When connecting your = HiMD Walkman with a standard MiniDisc inserted, it will switch into NetMD transfer mode where no drive letter = shows under "My Computer". Unfortunately, QHiMDTransfer does not yet support NetMD transfers, = however, we have written some experimental scripts in Python which just allow these NetMD transfers. Instructions = on how to use these scripts can be found at [1]. Basically, you will need to setup Python on your Windows computer = together with a different USB driver for your MiniDisc device. The advantage of NetMDPython over SonicStage is that = you can actually batch control the NetMD uploads (since those are command line utilities) and all music is = uploaded in native ATRAC-SP format (while SonicStage always converts all uploaded tracks either into PCM or = ATRAC3). It's actually much easier to use the Python scripts on Linux or MacOS, = the installation on Windows can be a bit tricky but it has been reported to work and users have uploaded many = tracks with this method already. Second: I have read and reread last mails, almost studying the updates logs..= .but I'm so much confused :s Please, could anyone tell me, in few words, whi= ch the actual state of QHiMDTransfer is? I mean, surely it's my bad understa= nding of English language, but After reading all these mails, I still don't k= now if it can do now what I want to do: transfer my atrac files from my comp= uter to my MDs whiteout using sonicstage (converting files to atrac apart). I= use attract sp and lp2 tracks for netMDs and atrac3+ 256kbps for hi-MDs, bu= t don't know if QHiMDTransfer can do it or only let me transfer mp3 to my MD= s, as it was some time ago. Of course, I could just download it and try myse= lf, what takes me to my third question. Third: where is the download link for QHiMDTransfer for Windows? I have sear= ched it for all the web and can't find it :s I have began to think I'm turni= ng stupid faster than previously :p=20 Thanks a lot to all of you. I'm sorry if a lot of my questions have been ans= wered in previous mails, but not having full understanding of English and no= t knowing almost anything of programming and Linux get me absolutely lost in= this area. Thanks for your quick answer. About translation, I'll be willingly contributing in those aspects I could, but have a question: in spanish translation files you have linked to, there is any way to know which are last changes or must I compare it with the old one? Second, about link for download QHiMDTransfer, I can see it in my own computer. Don't know why, but in my job computer it didn't appear :S And finally, thanks to clarify me actual state of this software. It still cannot be a substitute to SonicStage, but your roadmap seems very hopeful, and I almost can't wait to use it with my MDs :D Thanks again for your help. Take care all of you. 2011/2/5 Adrian Glaubitz > Hi, > > On Feb 4, 2011, at 3:01 PM, Taliesin wrote: > > > Hi to everyone! > > > > I have been lost for a while due to job, but I think things are going to > be quiet now (I hope :S ) > > > > First, Adrian: I have seen in a recent mail that Spanish translation has > been updated using google translator. Hi Adrian. Thanks for your quick answer.

About= translation, I'll be willingly contributing in those aspects I could, = but have a question: in spanish translation files you have linked to, there= is any way to know which are last changes or must I compare it with the ol= d one?

Second, about link for download QHiMDTransfer, I can se= e it in my own computer. Don't know why, but in my job computer it didn= 't appear :S

And finally, thanks to clarify me a= ctual state of this software. It still cannot be a substitute to SonicStage= , but your roadmap seems very hopeful, and I almost can't wait to use i= t with my MDs :D

Thanks again for your help.

Ta= ke care all of you.

Sure, I just some Google translations for a few words and phrases (bu= t not full sentences) that were added to translate
them. You can check and update the translations with the instructions [1] a= nd the translation files [2].

Just download and install Qt-Linguist and you can very easily help with the= translation.

> Second: I have read and reread last mails, almost studying the updates = logs...but I'm so much confused :s Please, could anyone tell me, in few= words, which the actual state of QHiMDTransfer is? I mean, surely it's= my bad understanding of English language, but After reading all these mail= s, I still don't know if it can do now what I want to do: transfer my a= trac files from my computer to my MDs whiteout using sonicstage (converting= files to atrac apart). I use attract sp and lp2 tracks for netMDs and atra= c3+ 256kbps for hi-MDs, but don't know if QHiMDTransfer can do it or on= ly let me transfer mp3 to my MDs, as it was some time ago. Of course, I cou= ld just download it and try myself, what takes me to my third question.
>

QHiMDTransfer currently allows transferring of MP3s (all HiMD devices= ) and ATRAC/PCM recordings (only those made on
an MZ-RH1) to the PC. In order to enable transfers to the PC for all models= for ATRAC/PCM you will need to use a version
of QHiMDTransfer which includes Sony's HiMD/NetMD root keys which we ar= en't currently shipping due to legal reasons,
this might change in the future though.

Transfers to the devices are not yet working, but has been work-in-progress= for several months now. I am expecting to
receive a patch from the developer working on that code within the next day= s. With this patch it will be possible to
transfer MP3 tracks to the device. ATRAC/PCM won't be possible from the= beginning as these have to be encrypted
and authenticated on the HiMD. We know how to do that already, though.

I have set up a release schedule here [3].

> Third: where is the download link for QHiMDTransfer for Windows? I hav= e searched it for all the web and can't find it :s I have began to thin= k I'm turning stupid faster than previously :p

It's directly linked on the frontpage of the wiki [4]. The versio= n for Windows is due to be updated
this weekend. I am expecting a freshly build version from the developer who= provides our
Windows builds this weekend.

> Thanks a lot to all of you. I'm sorry if a lot of my questions hav= e been answered in previous mails, but not having full understanding of Eng= lish and not knowing almost anything of programming and Linux get me absolu= tely lost in this area.
