Unfortunately, the machine wouldn't power up again since the power supply is faulty as well and needs to be replaced. Even though the power supply worked fine while the machine was running 24/7, the aged electrolytic capacitors meant that it didn't have enough power to turn on the machine. So I need to get a new power supply, which may take up to three weeks. People who want to access the git repository, may use Alexander's repository which he created for the linux-minidisc GSoC project. It also includes the forked version of "libnetmd". To check out his repository: git clone https://github.com/AlexanderS/linux-minidisc.git I will let you know, once the main server is up and running again. No, currently not. We might integrate it into future versions though. The problem
is that currently there are only free decoders available for ATRAC1 and ATRAC3,
a decoder for ATRAC3+, which is the codec mainly used on HiMD devices,
is currently work-in-progress at VLC/ffmpeg and expected to be finished
by the end of the year.

Once ATRAC3+ is there, it will be very easy to implement. In fact, one could
write a very application which uses libhimd to stream the audio data directly
to ffplay for playback.
