Hello Can,
at the moment SeqAn3 only supports Linux and the GNU Compiler
(g++, >= 7). We don't have "native" Visual Studio Compiler
support, yet.
I guess you read an older article that SeqAn2 supports Visual Studio, but as SeqAn3 is major rewrite, we unfortunately haven't gotten to the point of supporting it.
So if you need the Visual Studio Compiler support, you should use
SeqAn2.
However, you can use SeqAn3 on windows, but you need to set-up
the "Windows Subsystem for Linux" (WSL) and use the GNU Compiler
or simply use a VM where you can ssh into with Visual Studio. To
be honest, I don't daily drive Windows, so I personally don't have
any experience using WSL, so I can't say how much effort it is to
set-up.
https://docs.seqan.de/seqan/3-master-user/setup.html shortly mentions your options.
If you need further help, please open a ticket at
https://github.com/seqan/seqan3/issues.
Best regards,
Marcel
Dear Sir/Madam,
I'm Kaan, a Computer Engineering Undergraduate student from Turkey. I want to use SeqAn Version 3.0+ for my final project with Visual Studio, but it doesn't say which versions of Visual Studio are supported. It said in an article that it supports VS 2005. Could you kindly help me?
Best regards.
Can Kaan Karahan
