Young Minds: A Conference on Philosophy and Marginalized Identities Du bist Student:in der Philosophie und hast Lust, erste Erfahrungen im akademischen Umfeld zu sammeln? Dann bewirb Dich jetzt und werde Teil unserer studentischen Tagung am 10. Mai 2024 an der Universität Hamburg!
Warum diese Tagung? Wir wollen einen Raum für (angehende) Philosoph:innen aus marginalisierten Gruppen schaffen, um ihre Arbeiten zu präsentieren und sich auszutauschen. Neben drei Gastvorträgen zum Thema der Tagung werden acht Student:innen die Chance bekommen, einen 20-minütigen Vortrag (deutsch oder englisch) mit anschließender Fragerunde zu halten.
Inhalt Deines Vortrags kann jedes philosophische Thema sein – ob Praktische oder Theoretische Philosophie, Feministische Philosophie oder Formale Logik. Thematisch passende Beiträge zum Thema Marginalisierung sind ebenfalls willkommen. Vielleicht hast Du eine Hausarbeit, auf die Du stolz bist oder ein anderes philosophisches Thema, für das Du brennst? Wir freuen uns, wenn Du Deine Ideen mit uns teilst!
Wie bewirbst Du Dich?

...was dich zur Bewerbung motiviert und inwiefern Du zu einer marginalisierten Gruppe gehörst (z. B. als Frau und/oder Transperson, POC, Erstakademiker:in, Person mit Behinderung oder chronischer Erkrankung, Mitglied der LGBTQIA+-Community, etc.) (ca. 150-300 Wörter) ... und worum es in Deinem Vortrag gehen soll inkl. Deiner Thesen und Deines Argumentationsgangs (ca. 500-800 Wörter).
Die Tagung wird vom Fachschaftsrat Philosophie der Universität Hamburg organisiert und vom Gleichstellungsfonds der Fakultät für Geisteswissenschaften der Universität Hamburg finanziell unterstützt.

Young Minds: A Conference on Philosophy and Marginalized Identities Are you a student of philosophy looking to gain experience presenting your work in an academic environment? Apply now to present at our student conference on May 10, 2024, at the University of Hamburg!
Why this conference? We want to create a space for (future) philosophers from marginalized groups to present their work and exchange ideas. In addition to three guest speakers on the topic of the conference, eight students will have the chance to give a 20-minute lecture (in German or English) followed by a Q&A session.
The content of your talk can be any philosophical topic – whether that be practical or theoretical philosophy, feminist philosophy or formal logic. Contributions on the topic of marginalization are welcome as well. Maybe you have a term paper you are proud of or another philosophical topic you are passionate about? We would be happy if you share your ideas with us!

...what’s your motivation to apply and how you belong to a marginalized group (e.g., as a woman and/or trans person, POC, first-generation graduate, person with disability or chronic illness, member of the LGBTQIA+ community, etc.) (approx. 150-300 words).
... and what your talk will be about incl. your theses and your argumentation (approx. 500-800 words).
The conference is organized by the Philosophy Student Council of the University of Hamburg and financially supported by the Equal Opportunity Fund of the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Hamburg. Therefore, we are able to provide a hotel room for the speakers and to cover travel expenses in the amount of 100-150€.
