[IP-OA_Forum] OASPA’s forthcoming recommendations to increase equity in open access

OASPA has published a blog post outlining planned work in 2024 on a set of recommended practices to help publishing organisations increase equity in open access. The post tells the story of how we got to this point, and why. Following review and revisions, we will be sharing our proposed recommendations for wider community feedback.

OASPA worked hard last year on a series of workshops and outputs on ways to increase equity in OA that led to OASPA members and others in the community requesting that we develop principles of practice as a “top priority” and that work has now started as you can read in the post.

Equity is a multifaceted concept that goes beyond equality to address issues of cumulative advantage. OASPA is working for the inclusion of all researchers - we believe that diversity of scholars, of formats/types of output, of approaches and of languages can only occur in an environment that is equitable.
