vom 10. bis 14. November findet die Open-Science-Konferenz OAI14 statt. Die Konferenz hat eine lange Tradition als zweijährliche Konferenz, lange Zeit in Präsenz in Genf (Universität Genf und CERN), nun seit einigen Jahren als Online-Konferenz. Die diesjährige Iteration des "Geneva Workshop on Innovations in Scholarly Communication" wird wieder in Form von dreistündigen Konferenzblöcken an fünf Tagen stattfinden, mit fünf Schwerpunkten zu aktuell relevanten Themen.

 

Das Konferenzprogramm ist nun veröffentlicht, und die Registrierung ist geöffnet. Die Teilnahme ist kostenlos.

 

Ich freue mich, wenn die Veranstaltung auch in diesem Jahr wieder auf ein großes Interesse stößt.

OAI14 – Open Science in a changing world

 

The 14^th OAI Workshop will take place online 10-14 November 2025. This event is a premier global event on Open Science in the year in which it is held.

The theme of OAI14 is Open Science in a changing world.

Speakers and talks are added to the program continuously as soon as they are confirmed. Make sure to go to this page to get the latest info. - https://oai.events/oai14/. The registration form to register for the conference is also available here. Registration is free and open to anyone across the globe.

Session 1 on 10 November is devoted to Research Security and Openness. The shifting geopolitical climate, marked by protectionism, restricted mobility, and disinformation, necessitates a critical reassessment of how Open Science can coexist with growing security concerns.

Session 2 on 11 November is on Open Infrastructures. This session has contributions from open infrastructure organisations that facilitate the storage and availability of research outputs. They will discuss the challenge in achieving sustainability, and the infrastructure needs of regions in which they operate.

Session 3 on 12 November looks at Navigating AI in Open Science. What is the impact of AI in the Open Science landscape? What are the challenges and benefits it brings?

Session 4 on 13 November considers Commercialization and Open Science. When many research-performing organisations strongly encourage entrepreneurship, how does this fit with Open Science? What is the view of commercial providers on Open Science? And with new models such as Diamond Open Access, what is the financial model which should underpin it?

Session 5 on 14 November looks at Research Integrity. Research integrity is increasingly at stake: retractions for scientific misconduct are worryingly growing on a daily basis, paper mills are flourishing, reproducibility is in crisis, and it seems to be strictly connected to the current research assessment criteria. The widespread misuse of generative AI is squaring the issue. How can how Open Science practices help get back to the “fundamentals” of research, which is “show me” and not “trust me”

In addition to the conference, this year we are supporting satellite events worldwide. As well as joining us live, consider sharing the conference with your local community by organising or attending a satellite event.
