Dear members of the mailing list, Spring is coming and we thought it is time for a party again! We would like to invite you to celebrate with us the opening of the virtual exhibition "Umupashi bwa Nanfumu - The Spirit of the Queen" that Zambian photographers Edith Chiliboy and Patrick Chilaisha realized together with photographer and Cambridge based researcher Kerstin Hacker. The exhibition is the result of their digital fellowship at the Affect and Colonialism Web Lab and addresses the untangling of Zambia’s missionary and colonial history through photographic practices. We are especially thrilled to have the three of them in Berlin with us for a whole week - and we have several exciting events planned! On Friday, April 29th starting at 6:30 pm we will host the opening party at Oyoun (Lucy-Lameck-Str. 32, 12049 Berlin). There will be a short presentation and Q&A with Edith, Kerstin and Patrick, vegan fingerfood by abadän, bar service and music by DJ Folly Ghost. Entrance is free, no registration needed. In case you already want to have a „Sneak Preview“ of the virtual, interactive exhibition and learn about Edith, Patrick and Kerstin’s work in more depth: Join us for the „Meet the Fellows“ event at the CRC Affective Societies earlier the same day, Friday, April 29th, 12 pm - 2 pm at Habelschwerdter Allee 45, room KL32/202 ("Jour Fixe" room). If you want to experience what photography-based research means in practice: Take part in the workshop "Thinking White Backwards: Disrupting Missionary Culture in Zambia through Photography". Edith, Patrick and Kerstin planned exciting interventions with cameras and religious objects in different part of Berlin. The workshop will take place on Wednesday, April 27th and Thursday, April 28th, both 4pm - 6pm, starting at Oyoun. More infos here: https://affect-and-colonialism.net/event/ As there are only 10-12 spots available, please register for the workshop at info@aac-weblab.net<mailto:info@aac-weblab.net> We hope to see many of you in person and get the chance to discuss, explore and celebrate together!
